Nilgun is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, co-mentored by Drs. Steffi Oesterreich and Nancy Davidson. She obtained her BS and MS degrees in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. She then went on to receive her PhD in Biology from the Watson School of Biological Sciences at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in NY, USA. Recipient of a Department of Defense Breakthrough Fellowship Award, she works on identifying/validating genetic drivers and building novel, improved laboratory models of invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC).
