Eid Mubarak, or Happy Eid (al-Fitr)! Today, we celebrated the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims around the world fast. It is typically celebrated for three days with family and friends (and delicious sweets!). We ordered catering from Bengal Kabab House and enjoyed homemade desserts prepared by Muslim students from our lab and neighboring cancer biology labs!

Happy International Women's Day! Or for our German speaking friends, Internationaler Fraunetag (courtesy of Steffi)! Today, we celebrated this very special day (Friday, March 8th) with a cappuccino cake, a strawberry shortcake, and strawberry and vanilla mochi. Members from multiple cancer biology labs, many of which are led by women PIs, were invited 👩🏻‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬👩🏾‍🔬

Happy Lunar New Year (and Year of the Dragon 🐲)! For our February social, we celebrated Lunar New Year on Monday, February 12th with a lunch catered from Szechuan Spice. And we started a new tradition to kick off Fridays in the lab: cake and mochi!

Eight members of The Pink Warriors (@pinkwarriorspitt), the only breast cancer club at the University of Pittsburgh, joined the lab for a tour of the facilities, Wednesday night, February 7, 2024. They received a tour of the building from Dr. Lee and both Drs. Lee and Oesterreich spoke to them about breast cancer research and answered questions. Afterward they enjoyed a catered dinner. They learned a great deal from the lab tour and lab members were impressed with their questions. Contact information was exchanged and plans were laid for them to participate with the lab in the upcoming Rush to Crush Cancer and the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk, both May 19, 2024.

Happy New Year from the Lee-Oesterreich lab! For our December social, we went axe throwing at Lumberjaxes 🪓 Congrats to Sanghoon for winning the axe throwing tournament! We also said goodbye to Osama (@osamashiraz) and Chelsea (@chelseachen655) and presented them with a photo album of their best memories in the lab and a holiday cake. We wish them well on their future adventures!
